Daniel was the son of Jean de Jarnette and Mary Mumford. He either born on or baptized on 24 January 1713 Abingdon Parish, Gloucester Co, Virginia, British Colonial America. Other sources cite a christening date of Feb 2, 1713. He died either in 1754 or 1755, Prince Edward, Virginia, British Colonial America.[1] Daniel's birth as alternatively cited as February 2, 1713 in Abingdon Parish, Gloucester Co, VA and death as 1755 in Nottoway Parish, Prince Edward Co, VA.[2]
He was a carpenter & blacksmith and said to have arrived in Kentucky with Daniel Boone.[citation needed]
His will was probated in September 1755.[3]
Daniel and Mary had eight children. These eight children are all mentioned in his will:
Married, 1741, wife Martha Ford b. 1722, Gloucester Co, VA or Lunenberg Co, VA d. 1782, KY or 1816, Barren Co, KY.
1743 - Living in what is now Prince Edward County; his land was surveyed in Amelia County. (Prince Edward County was formed from Ameliain 1754)[3]
September 11, 1754 - Will and deed listed in King and Queen Co, VA, page 302 Book 3 - Richard Perryman, Martha (Ford) De Jarnette, and James Davenport were the executors.[3]
December 1755 - Estate was appraised; amounting to 313 pounds, 10 shellings, 6 d. He amassed well over 780 acres, and bequeathed other parcels of land, without stating the amount. He left Martha a child's portion of movables (personal property), this would have been less than her one-third, which was the widow's dower. He left her the privilege (choice?) of houses and 100 acres of land with the plantation. Eight children are mentioned in the will. (Tidewater of VA)[3]

It is unclear if daughter Mary and Martha married the same Richard Perryman. The Frost book has a marriage and ancestors for Martha and none for Mary. This seems to be the source of confusion for many online family trees. [3]
